Abstract (EN)
Total knee arthroplasty is used recently as basic treatment method of many knee joint diseases. The gender, the race and the geographic differences are important for determination of the dimensions of prosthesis components. The purpose of this study was to gain addition in fields of production and application of prosthesis as defining morphometric and morphologic characteristics of bony structures of knee joint. In this study, the parameters were measured in the distal end of femur, proximal end of tibia and posterior face of patellae at the time of total knee arthroplasty. Intraoperative measurements were obtained by a manuel metal caliper at 59 knee belonging to 28 women (52 knee) and 4 men (7 knee). The mean values of parameters in femur were 59.2±5.1 mm for anteroposterior (AP) distance of condylus medialis, 60.9±4.7mm for AP distance of condylus lateralis, 36.0±5.9 mm AP distance of intercondylar area, 71.4±5.1 mm for total mediolateral (ML) width, 13.3±2.7 mm for notch width. The mean values of parameters in tibia were 42.8±4.4 mm for AP distance of tibial plateau, 74.5±4.1 mm for ML width of tibial plateau, 47.6±4.8 mm for AP distance of condylus medialis, 39.2±3.4 mm for ML width of condylus medialis, 37.6±4.4 mm for AP distance of condylus lateralis, 35.7±3.1 mm for ML width of condylus lateralis. The mean values that measured after resection were 45.2±3.7 mm for AP distance, 72.8±3.4 mm for ML width, 46.6±4.5 mm for AP distance of condylus medialis and 40.7±3.9 mm for AP distance of condylus lateralis. The mean values of parameters in patella were 35.6±4.1 mm for superior- inferior hight, 43.0±3.8 mm for ML width. The mean values that measured after resection were 36.2±3.0 mm for superior- inferior hight, 41.8±3.7 mm for ML width. The dimensions of knee joint in our society have smaller values and stature as compared with the Western population and have bigger values as compare with the far Eastern population. To be known the morphometric differences in the structures of knee joint is an important factor to increase the consistency between the prosthesis and the body. So we are in the opinion of the morphometric studies that made in bigger populations have important addition to productions and surgical applications of prosthesis.
