Abstract (EN)

In this study, nurses? knowledge levels about tracheotomy care were examined.The sampling group was made of 150 nurses working in Anesthesia and Reaminasyon intensive care unit, surgical, Otorhinolaryngology, emergency services, outpatient clinic and internal medicine in İstanbul Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital between October and November 2009.In the first part of survey having been used as the data collection tool of research, questions referring to personal information of nurses and in the second part knowledge test about tracheotomy care are present.Data acquired in research were tested in SPSS 11.5 program by means of percent and Chi-Square. For the significant outcomes in p<.05 level acquired in the conclusion of Chi-Square.With the statistic investigation the relationship between nurses' related to tracheotomy care knowledge and the education level has seen significant (p<0.05).With the statistic investigation the relationship between nurses' related to tracheotomy care knowledge and the monthly salary has seen significant(p<0.05). This finding of higher monthly earnings to increase motivation to work and that it may be said to reflect positively on knowledge.When we examined the relation between nurses? tracheotomy care knowledge level and the units , it seems the units that applies the traditional methods and this result seems significant statistic too (p<0.05).In the end of research; nurses? knowledge levels about tracheotomy care were significant differences according to educational levels, salaries, career demands, institutional satisfaction, unit, colleagues satisfaction.Keywords: Tracheotomy, Nurse, Care, Knowledge level
