Abstract (EN)
Writing is one of themostsignificantmilestones of history. Throughout history, human kind have used language as a means of communication and of exchanging information. Ceramics, having older roots than writing and being used in any field of daily life since thebeginning of human life, is baked soil in its simplest definition. The fact that ceramics has been used in artistic ctivities as well as in daily life throughout the process beginning with settled life till the recent times shows that it is very rich in its content. Through time, human kind, who pay importance to aesthetics, have added a variety of development soothe ceramics they have produced. One of these developments is calligraphy, Arabic calligraphy, one of many writing styles, is the one which is used in Turkish calligraphy. Being a popular style among the Islamic countries because of its abstract or stylized characters, Arabic writing have been placed among the elements of calligraphy yused throughout thistory both witht hepurpose of communicationandwithculturalorritualisticpurposes. Calligraphy, whichstillexistsand is usedtoday, providesnewperspectivestatehouse of writing as an artisticmeans, whichinfluenciesartistsanddesignerswhoare in search of newdimensionswithitsaestheticandplasticcharacteristic. In the art of ceramics, calligraphyleavesthetwo-dimensionalperspectiveandachievesto be three-dimensional in itsartisticanddailyuse. In thiscontext, regarding art as an interdisciplinaryfield, thisthesisfocuses on thereflections of Turkishcalligraphy in ceramics as a form andnarrativelanguage.
