Abstract (EN)

Tales one of the literary genres of narrative, contain the cultural and national values of the communities in which they belong. These values have been transferred from generation to generation through the storytellers. Tales reflect a nation's beliefs, view of life, customs and traditions in a unique way. In this thesis named "Sibling Relations in Turkish Tales" is emphasized the place and importance of brotherhood within Turkish tales and are made inferences on the foundations of brotherhood. The concept of brotherhood and importance of the main factors related to In this thesis named "Sibling Relations in Turkish Tales" is emphasized the place and importance of brotherhood within Turkish tales and are made inferences on the foundations of brotherhood. The concept of brotherhood and importance of the main factors related to brotherhood such as blood brotherhood, jealousy, fratricide, love, tolerance, the sharing of inheritance were taken into consideration in Turkish tales. Especially, the reasons of negative fraternity relations are mentioned. Based on the tales we determined, the sibling relationships were discussed with cause-effect relationship and question-answer method.
