Association of SIRT1 gene polymorphisms with bladder cancer in Turkish population

Abstract (EN)

Bladder cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the world, which begins with the uncontrolled proliferation of cells for various reasons. We aimed to investigate role of rs369274325 A/G polymorphism of SIRT1 in patients with bladder cancer. Genomic DNA was isolated and genotyping of rs369274325 A/G polymorphism in SIRT1 was examined in 200 individuals (100 patients with bladder cancer and 100 dyspeptic healthy control) by real-time PCR. Pearson's Chi-square test was used to analyze for statistical evaluation. According to our results, we could not find any relationship between rs369274325 A/G polymorphism in SIRT1 and bladder cancer meaningful statistically. This is the first study in the literature that evaluates rs369274325 A/G polymorphism of SIRT1 in bladder cancer in Turkey and our results do not correlate with other studies. rs369274325 A/G polymorphism in SIRT1 does not cause genetic predisposition in bladder cancer.
