Abstract (EN)

The need for fuel which is one of the most important inputs of the main sectors such as industry, agriculture, and transportation has increased day by day. When it is considered that Turkish fuel market had began a liberalization period between 1999 and 2005, analysis of model countries? fuel markets is of great importance by Turkish market players. Therefore, this study evaluates the model countries? fuel markets in terms of price, margin of profit and market investment models by examining USA, United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. Results revealed that investment models such as COCO (Company Owned Company Operated), CODO (Company Owned Dealer Operated) or DOCO (Dealer Owned Company Operated) can be used in addition to DODO (Dealer Owned Dealer Operated) type investment model that is generally used in Turkey. However, it is realized that the fuel sale in hypermarkets and independent retailers in Turkey was not be feasible due to the problem of trust, and space in urban. In addition, the reason of the low level of sales by the fuel stations in Turkey is not by the high number of fuel stations but by low level of fuel consumption per capita in Turkey. According to the results obtained from numerical data, it is seen that the increase in fuel consumption will increase by the development of the Turkish economy and it will have positive effect on the fuel sector.
