Analysis of the relationship between economic, social and political globalization process and economic growth in Turkey

In this study, the long-term effects of the globalisation on growth in 1970-2013 period is examined. The ARDL Bounds Test Approach and The Granger Causality Test with Toda Yamamoto are used as method. In the applications, the growth is represented by three different series which are; GDP growth (annual %), GDP per capita growth (annual %) and Logarithmic transformation of GDP (constant 2010 US $). The KOF index, which takes the globalisation into consideration with the aspects of economical, general, social and political, is used as globalisation criterion. In the ARDL Bounds Tests results, it is seen that the general globalisation augments the growth. It isn't happened to occur that there is meaningful relationship with the economic, social and politic globalisation contributing to the growth. This insignificant relationship is also valid for the sub-variables belongs to economical and political globalisation. But it is observed that the Data on Information Flows, Internet Users, Television and Trade in Newspapers which are sub-variables of social globalisation, are augmenting the growth. According to the results of Granger Causality Test with Toda Yamamoto; it is confirmed that Economical Globalisation and the sub-variables belongs to economical globalisation, Actual Flows, Trade, Portfolio Investment, Income Payments to Foreign Nations, Restrictions, Hidden Import Barriers, Mean Tariff Rate, The sub-variables of political globalisation of Taxes on International Trade and Capital Account Restrictions, Embassies in Country, Membership in International Organizations, Participation in U.N. Security Council Missions and International Treaties are the causes of growth.
