Abstract (EN)

Inflation and unemployment are two important problems for the countries of the world. While some countries in the world succeed in keeping these problems at low levels, some countries are not successful enough in keeping these two problems at low levels. In this study, the dimensions of inflation and unemployment in Turkey, their causes and consequences, their development in the historical process and their relations with each other are analyzed in detail. Inflation and unemployment in Turkey have been persistent from the periods when the Ottoman Empire was dominant until the foundation of the Republic and have continued to be a problem at certain rates during the Republican period. The study analyzes how inflation affects the unemployment of age groups. The time series model was used in the study and Turkey's inflation and unemployment data between 2014-2020 were included in the model. As a result of the econometric analysis, it is concluded that there is a linear relationship between inflation and unemployment in Turkey between 2014 and 2020. It is seen that increases in inflation have an impact especially on some age groups. Although the 15-24 age group is also affected by the reflection of inflation on unemployment, the reflection of inflation on unemployment in Turkey is mostly on the 25-54 age group. The 25-54 age group is affected by the rise in both indices. The problem of inflation and unemployment brings along other problems and has negative effects on individual, social and political life. In order to minimize these damages, it is necessary to keep inflation and unemployment at the lowest level. In order to keep inflation and unemployment at the lowest level, economic policies should be implemented and measures should be taken in this direction.
