Abstract (EN)

One of the vital points in historical study is surely to comprehend the current literature on the topic. Thus, in this mean, it is a significant duty to search and evaluate course of the Turkish historiograhy on the early Turkic presence in Eastern Europe, which constitutes an elementary part of Turkic history. It would not be wrong to say that studies on the early history of Turks in Eastern Europe did not reach a considerable amount by the recent years both in quantity and quality. However, the last years have witnessed an accelerated increase of studies (books, papers, dissertations) in this area. This study aims at surveying contents and approaches of the Turkish historiography on the Huns, Suvars/Sabirs, Avars, Ogurs, Bulgars and Khazars between the years 1923 and 2018, and presenting a comprehensive view of the relevant production, both academic and popular.
