The use of soft power in Türkiye's foreign policy approach, assessment of the relationship between soft power and international trade in North Macedonia

Following the Cold War, new states emerged in the global system, which gained their independence. As a result of these developments, the international system, which was characterised as bipolar, has moved towards unipolarity. The emergence of more than one actor in the international system has affected other states in many ways. The most important of these areas has undoubtedly been globalisation. The spread of globalisation and mass media has led to the emergence of different approaches in the foreign policies of states. Thus, in the changing and developing international system, international actors, especially states, have started to use their cultural assets and lifestyles to influence the public opinion of other countries. In this context, the use of states' own lifestyles to influence other countries has been described as the soft side of power. On the other hand, the acceleration of globalisation and the ease of access of people to distant places have also affected foreign trade, which continues even in times of war. In this study, how and in which ways the soft power policies of states affect foreign trade will be evaluated on the axis of Türkiye-North Macedonia relations.
