A look at Turkey's international migration management in a security context

Migration, which is the common subject of many fields, has been at the top of the world agenda especially recently. For this reason, migration movements have inevitably become one of thepriority issues for Turkey, which has hosted the oldest communities in the world with its geography. The aim of this study is to examine Turkey's immigration policies and to reveal the effect of the discourses on the immigrant perception of the citizens. This study is based on the hypothesis that the issue of security should not be reduced to the security of the state or citizens, and that social security can only be achieved by ensuring the integration of immigrants with the society instead of making them a security issue. Contrary to the common practice, this study is important in terms of revealing the relationship between immigration and immigrant security as well as state security. For this purpose, firstly, the historical development of Turkey's international migration policies is included in the study, and also the legal regulations and international cooperation in Turkey's migration management are mentioned. Secondly, the historical formation of the concept of security and the areas in which it is used are included, and the security understanding of the Copenhagen School is used in order to reveal the relationship between migration and security. Finally, in the third chapter, topics such as the relationship between migration and security in Turkey, securitization of migration and the security of immigrants are included, and the perception of immigrants on the security discourse is revealed.
