Abstract (EN)

In this study, the development process of Ottoman archaeology in Turkey was examined. Recently, archeology has been also involved in Ottoman researches. Although archaeological excavations related to Ottoman period have been carried out for a long time, it has just started to be referred as a discipline. In this thesis, the reasons of the lingering development of Ottoman Archaeology in comparison with the other subsections were interrogated and certain fundamentals in European countries which were prevailed by Ottomans were aimed to semtinize. Determining the Ottoman period of excavation which carried out in Turkey constitutes one of the most important outcomes of the thesis as well. In this thesis, many studies about the topic especially the principals were obtained by the meetings of the excavations results were presented comparatively. This study was limited in earlier periods as well as the medieval age-focused excavations that provided data from surveys about Ottoman period in Turkey and also on abroad. The excavations which target the collection of data in the Ottoman's period were determined, the aims were examined and the potential contributions to the Ottoman Empire's history and archaeology were exposed.
