Abstract (EN)

The speaker can mark the surprise response to the proposition in several ways. These structures, which we can express as a statement of surprise in Turkish, are known as mirativity in linguistics. In the study, the markers of surprise statement in Turkish were examined with an pragmatic approach on the corpus, which we created from selected theater texts belonging to Turkish and the Turkish National Collection. Based on DeLancey (1997)'s approach, the surprise statement was considered an evidentiality-related but independent category, and five semantic values determined by Aikhenvald (2012) were used to detect markers. Markers determined under semantic classification were analyzed according to grammatical type. As a result of the study, the contexts in which morphological, morphosyntactic, syntactic and lexical markers are used in surprise statement in Turkish were examined and explained. In addition, person preference in the statement of surprise and other areas of meaning that arise in the extension of surprise are discussed in a separate section. In addition to contributing to grammar studies, it has been tried to present data for language typology studies at the universal level. Key Words: mirativity, extension, evidentialiy, new information, surprise.
