The views of 5th-grade mathematics teachers on the digital tools included in the Turkey Century Education Model

Purpose: The objective of this study is to evaluate the digital educational tools used in the 5thgrade mathematics course under the New Education Model from the perspective of mathematics teachers. The study aims to identify teachers' views on the use of these digital tools, their advantages, and the challenges encountered. Materials and Methods: The study group consists of 23 mathematics teachers working in middle schools in Gaziantep province, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of National Ministry of National Education in Gaziantep province, selected via non-probability sampling. A semistructured interview form, developed by the researchers and consisting of 10 open-ended questions, used as the data collection tool. Data collected through face-to-face interviews with the participants. The collected data was analyzed using content analysis. Findings: The results of the study revealed that mathematics teachers' views on the digital tools used within the New Mathematics Education Model grouped under various themes. A significant portion of the teachers stated that digital tools made lessons visual, interactive, and understandable. However, some teachers highlighted issues such as insufficient technological infrastructure and the lack of adequate training on the use of digital tools. Conclusion: According to the research findings, it is evident that the digital educational tools used within the framework of the New Mathematics Education Model make significant contributions to the mathematics teaching process. However, it concluded that in order to use these tools more effectively, the technological infrastructure in schools must strengthen and in-service training for teachers must increase.
