Abstract (EN)
The aim of the planned study is to examine the effect of a standard diet, which consists of 45-60% carbohydrate, 10-20% protein, 20-35% fat in terms of macronutrients, on the oral triglyceride tolerance test (OTTT) according to the daily calorie needs of individuals. Within the scope of the planned study, OTTT was applied to the subjects in the study group (n=20, 9 females-11 males), after routine diets without dietary restrictions (1st OTTT) and after three days of standard diet (2nd OTTT). Triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) and glucose levels were measured in blood samples taken at the 0 and 4th hours of the applications. The energy and macronutrient amounts of routine and three-day standard diets were analyzed. Area Under The Curve (AUC), 0 hour TG and 4th hour TG values of the OTTT application (2nd OTTT) after three days of standard diet were found to be significantly lower than the 1st OTTT application (p= 0.014, p= 0.030, 0.015, respectively). It was observed that glucose, TC, LDL-C and HDL-C values did not change statistically significantly (p= 0.803, p= 0.305, p= 0.244, p= 0.528, respectively). The three-days standard diet energy amount was found to be statistically significantly higher (p= 0.009). When the diets are analyzed in terms of macronutrient percentage contents, it was found that the three-days standard dietary carbohydrate percentage increased to 47% (p= 0.003), the fat percentage decreased to 34.4% (p= 0.001), and the protein percentage remained unchanged at 18.5% (p= 0.957). It was observed that the amount of energy and dietary fat showed a statistically significant positive correlation with AUC (p= 0.029, p= 0.003, respectively). In conclusion, it can be said that the three-days standard diet before the OTTT may be effective in the postprandial TG response determined by OTTT.
