Diplomatic immunity and priviliges in International Law

Diplomatic immunity and privileges held in the 1961 Vienna Convention were given to diplomatic representatives so that they could perform their duties as required. Essentially the diplomatic immunity and privileges that serve the purpose of maintaining peaceful relations between states are indispensable for the creation of a sustainable international network of relations. Such a study was carried out with the aim of assessing the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention, in which the diplomatic immunity and privilege rules were laid down in this respect, and in order to determine what the problems in the current structure are and what possible suggestions for overcoming these problems. While examining diplomatic immunity and privileges, the 1961 Vienna Convention regimes as well as important international court decisions were examined and evaluated. Furthermore, the evaluations of the arrangements for diplomatic immunity and privileges in the Turkish positive law and the compatibility of these regulations with the 1961 Vienna Convention were also mentioned as much as possible within the scope of our thesis.
