Abstract (EN)
The Kingdom of Urartu, whose name we find for the first time in Assyrian sources, was founded in BC.He. 13. from the first quarter of the century BC. He. 6. it has maintained its presence on the historical scene until the turn of the century. M. He. 8. since the beginning of the century, it has developed rapidly in the region surrounded by Lake Van and its surroundings, the Euphrates in the west, the Kars Plateau-Sevan Lake in the north, Lake Urmia in the east and the Taurus Mountains in the south. The Kingdom of Urartu has left permanent artifacts of their culture in the regions under their rule. Despite the difficult geography of the region they dominated, the remains of the architectural structures they built have managed to survive to the present day, helping us to revive the life of the kingdom. Urartu castles, built as a solution to the problems in the geographical structure of the region, are built in such a way as to keep the strategic key points of the region under control, and also serve as a military base. The Kingdom of Urartu has demonstrated a continuous and original architectural development by creating a powerful defense system in the regions it has captured. This architectural development manifests itself in all spheres of Urartian life. In this study, the architectural structures of Urartu were grouped under the headings of military, religious and civil architecture and evaluated in terms of location, function and plan. Thus, the similarities and differences between the building groups were tried to be deciphered.
