A Study of the values in Uyghur narrative texts (Çatik) in terms of Turkish teaching program

In this study, the values identified in the Uyghur narrative texts (çatik) were examined in terms of Turkish teaching program. The aim of the study is to determine to what extent value education and values were included in the selected (çatik) stories (Hungry Pars Story, Sir Chashtani Bey Story and The Good and The Bad Prince Story). The values found in the study were examined and interpreted in terms of Turkish teaching program. As a result of the study, it was found that there were values in the contents of the Uyghur stories and these values were seen to match up with the root values. It was concluded that the values found in the stories can be used in teaching Turkish and these texts can be included in the Turkish textbooks. In the study, it was found that values such as helpfulness, patriotism, commitment, love, respect, honesty and self-control were included in the selected Uyghur stories. Besides that; values such as justice and friendship were also overemphasized. In the light of this information, it was observed that these stories can keep up with the other stories written in Turkish and have such a rich content to compete with the other stories written in Turkish. We have come to the conclusion that along with the stories used in values education, stories written in Uyghur can also be used in values education.
