Abstract (EN)

The research data about the power wasted by standby assert that this power amount forms at least 10 % of total power used at houses. The amount of even only one household appliance (gadget) can change between 1 to 25 Watts. It is true that recently household appliances which consume less standby power have been produced but the number of household appliances which spend this power has been increasing day by day. Also the technical data about the power amount can be mostly misleading The power supply is ignored by giving power use which belongs to parts which are beyond power supply of household appliances. The cost of houesehold appliances which spend power in standby mode is 35 million dollars per year for our country and this amount corresponds to 3% of our total electric energy need. Thinking that we import nearly half of the supply we use and from time to time we export energy, we import 35 million dollars of electric energy to waste or we buy supply to produce energy each year. The price of waste of energy for the end user is nearly 50 TL per year. Nearly all of this power is used by television and connected systems in the living rooms, by computer and its connected periphherals in the study rooms and in the kitchens. While the standby power was being reduced (degraded), a microcontroller based module was added in order to make the system remote controlled. Thus the condition of the system can be observed (monitored) far away by a web interface and its position can be changed by interference. Keywords: Standby, Energy Consumption, Energy Saving, Microchip, Remote Control,Ethernet, Microchip TCP-IP stack, Power Detecting, Movement Detecting.
