Abstract (EN)
The potential for crime that existented in human nature has shown itself in different events througout human history and has a different importance for each of the disciplines in terms of reflecting the external aspects of the society. Convicted prisoners attracted penalty various fines according to terms of the period, to be the criminals punished and the most important to have no regrets sanctions have been implemented. While quilty attracted penalty in cave or by chaining to a tree at the first era, in the next times to been passed to prison from 'mahbes' concept. Criminals have been punished to prison fines by isolation from society and especially effeorts have been made to the modernization at XIX. century in Ottoman Empire. Due to its geographical location and the occurrence of a high walled fortress, escaped where it is almost impossible to Sinop Prison has separated most of prison in the Ottoman Empire in terms of the presence in the castle, political prisoners and accomodating, the direction is famous for its work, written by being near the sea and prisoners . In this study, the economic situation of Sinop Prison, the prisoners profile, prison employees, it spent the restoration process and the life in prison belonging to XIX. and XX. century was examined.
