Personali̇ty of the poets i̇n the xix. century and fi̇ndi̇ngs on the li̇terary personali̇ty bi̇ographi̇cal memoi̇rs

One of the most indispensable resource of Turkish classical literature, the biographical memoirs, which do not only enlighten our history of literatue but also give light to the whole past, are our biographical works. These biographical memoirs which give us valuable information about the artists, who create art, are certainly used to improve our point of view about the past. In preparing this work, we tried to create a different perspective to the literal world, so we chose Ârif Hikmet's Biographical Memoirs, Hâtimetü'l Eş'âr and Şefkat's Biographical Memoir from the same period, the XIX. century, which involve a historical period between the East and the West and artist. We tried to specify the life, personality an artistic point of view of the same period artists with these memoirs. Our work consists of three parts. The first part includes the concept of biographical memoirs, its historical development and the important points of biographical memoir in Turkish literature are put into the forefront. This part also involves brief, reminding information about the biographical memoirs which were examined. The second part, inwhich five hundred forty seven artists were examined, is the main part of our study and involves the artists which were examined by biographical memoirs writers and given information about their literal and personal characteristics, are assessed about their other characteristics and their works. This part is prepared to show how and with which characteristics different memoirs have taken the same artist into consideration. Whereas in the memoirs which were analysed in our third part, four hundred fifty poets whose names were just mentioned or about whom we could not find any suitable aspect concerning our topic were analysed in our thesis and shown and examined in charts. Mainly, in this work, we tried to determine different points of view about poets, about whom biographical writers gave information and which were involved in the above mentioned three biographical memoirs. We are in the opinion that this study will bring a new point of view to the researchers in litearture.
