A survey on reading texts and supplementary reading books for foreigners learning turkish

There are reading texts and supplementary reading books at the head offices of teaching Turkish to foreigners. Reading texts and supplementary reading books has the major importance in accomplishing reading-understanding as well as other language skills.On this thesis, the basic information on teaching Turkish to foreigners is given; the importance of reading texts and supplementary reading books in the education of teaching Turkish to foreigners is specified. The most prominent and systematic institutions on this sector are TÖMER Ankara and TÖMER Gazi?s ?Yeni HİTİT? and ?Yabancılar İçin Türkçe? textbooks which has the collection of the best examples of the reading texts has been analyzed.There are no thoroughly prepared supplementary reading books fort he education of foreigners learning Turkish. There has been a survey on reading books of the educational teaching set ?Adım Adım Türkçe? who has been working on this sector. Furthermore, there has been a poll amongst the students learning Turkish at Ankara TÖMER and Gazi TÖMER on the satisfaction of the reading texts and supplementary reading books.This thesis which is about the preparation of more useful reading texts, the need to issue supplementary reading books is a must fort he foreigners learning Turkish will help the foreigners in this regard.Key words: Teaching Turkish to foreigners, reading texts, supplementary books
