Abstract (EN)

Turkey is under the influence of earthquake phenomena due to the poor soil conditions and uncontrolled building construction. In this study it is aimed to investigate the relation between surface acceleration-period, velocity-period and displacementperiod graphs for clay and sand soil models by using shear wave velocity (Vs) and soil conditions by using Van 2011earthquake records. In the study three different bedrock shear wave velocity were used. Predominant period values were determined from the EERA program which is based on the one-dimensional equivalent linear analysis. To make comparisons between spectral acceleration and period, velocity and period and displacement and period variations, two-dimensional dynamic finite element analyses were made by using PLAXIS software program. Predominant acceleration values of soil models were found from spectral acceleration-period graphs. After this stage, onedimensional and two-dimensional analysis results were compared with estimates of risk. It is proposed that, the results of two-dimensional analyses are different from that of the one-dimensional analyses and to obtain more accurate results, experimental studies carried out in-situ are needed.
