Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the effects of the application of constructed wetlands in the urban area on the urban ecosystem were examined on the example of Konyaaltı district of Antalya province. In the study, an attempt was made to find an answer to the question that "Can positive effects be achieved on the urban ecosystem in the context of global warming, climate change and water management by applying artificial wetlands, which are generally applied in rural areas, to urban areas?". Çandır Stream and its surroundings in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya province were chosen as the study area. Three constructed wetland (CW) arrays were designed on the study area by using the hybrid constructed wetland method. In this hybrid CW system, which includes three CW series, there are a total of 13 constructed wetlands consisting of 3 vertical subsurface flow constructed wetland (VSFCW), 3 horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetland (HSFCW), 4 free surface flow constructed wetland (FSFCW), 2 disinfection pools and a water play pool. It is planned to use domestic wastewater, surface runoff waters and precipitation waters in the feeding (water inlet) of the system, while the exit water is planned to be used as irrigation water, recreational water surfaces and discharge to the streambed. The desired result with the study; in urban areas, constructed wetland planning and applications will make significant contributions to the urban ecosystem with its these functions are eliminating the lack of natural recreation areas in the vicinity of the city, rehabilitation of waste storage areas that have completed their use, sand, stone and mine quarries, wastewater treatment, etc. However, it is aimed to determine that the ecosystem they create will have positive effects on global problems the depletion of clean water resources, the deterioration of the natural ecosystem and negative climatic changes, etc. The study will contribute to fill this gap in the literature on constructed wetland studies, which are mostly focused on the purification function and potential in rural areas but are not adequately addressed in terms of applicability in urban areas, contributions to the ecosystem, recreational opportunities and landscape values.
