Examination of the relationship between physical activity, quality of life and successful aging levels in elderly individuals

Abstract (EN)

In recent years, both psychological and physiological health problems arising from inactivity have been increasing. This problem situation, which is closely related to almost every individual, especially concerns elderly individuals who are our benefactors. So that; The quality of life, which tends to decrease due to inactivity, inhibits successful-healthy aging in these individuals. In this context, in our research; In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between physical activity, quality of life and successful aging levels in elderly individuals. A total of 402 volunteer elderly people (n=207) female and male (n=195) in nursing homes in the provinces of Aydın, Muğla, Çorum, Amasya, İzmir and Tokat participated in the research. "Personal Information Form", "International Physical Activity Scale Short Form" and "Successful Aging Scale" and "World Health Organization Vital Scale Short Form" were used as data collection tools. SPSS 23.0 package program was used in the analysis of the data obtained in the research. After the details of the normality analysis distributions applied to the data showing the normal distributions, Independent Sample t-test and boxplot were applied to determine the difference between the groups, and a scatterplot with Pearson Correlation analysis was applied to evaluate the distribution between the scale mean scores. The assumptions obtained; Having male and female children included in the study was not considered as a factor in evaluating successful aging (p>0.05). On the other hand, a positive target moderate relationship between total quality of life measurement scores and physical activity level, and finally between physical activity level total score and quality of life general health sub-dimension scores. it is seen that the relationship is taken (p<0.05). In conclusion; It is known that the relationship between the physical activities of the elderly individuals in the social field and their quality of life and successful aging styles is of undeniable importance. In this context; The contribution of the life quality layers of the elderly individuals to physical activity, as they contain for their living spaces, has positive contributions to the time they can make their own castings for the rest of their lives and to have a more successful maturation process of these individuals.
