Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the level of perception of the elderly towards social exclusion in Sakarya / Adapazarı. It has been argued that the rise in general welfare and the spread of health services lead to an increase in the average life expectancy and lower fertility rates. As a result / increase of the elderly population is shown. Aging has become a global problem involving both developed and developing countries. This raises the risk of social exclusion for the elderly. Due to aging, people are at risk of being deprived of their civil, political, economic and social citizenship rights. Turkey is a country located within the demographic window of opportunity. On the other hand, the aging process of the population has accelerated. This situation brings the social exclusion problem of the aging population to the agenda. This problem is decisive in the selection of the research topic. Qualitative research design was used in the study. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the elderly were exposed to a low degree of social exclusion due to the surrounding characteristics of the Turkish family structure.
