Abstract (EN)

The Middle East has great historical significance. Peace came to this region, which was dominated by turmoil throughout history, with the conquest of Selim I, and this peace lasted for about 400 years with ongoing practices. The unrest mentioned with the end of the Ottoman rule in the region has continued until today. Unlike the other Ottoman sultans, Selim I was oriented towards the east, not the west. He established security in the eastern region and left a good treasury and a suitable environment for western expeditions to those who came after him. Despite the primitive conditions of the age, the march and organization of the Ottoman army from Rumelia to Cairo is of great importance in terms of Turkish Military History. As it is known, one of the important reasons why the Ottoman Empire was a small principality founded in Anatolia and became a great empire, which is rarely seen in the history of the world, is the expedition organizations it organized with the power of thousands of people and animals. When the expeditions were well organized, great victories were won, and when they were not, they were defeated. In order for the voyages to be successful, the estimation, supply, distribution, synchronization of the needs before the voyage, in short, the voyage logistics must be done successfully. A deficiency in any of the needs can turn everything upside down by having a domino effect. Ottoman Sultans, with exceptions, did not go on expeditions after Kanuni. As a matter of fact, the stagnation period started after this period. A Sultan who does not organize a campaign cannot be successful in state administration. Because the science and art of management is best learned on expeditions. The Egyptian Campaign went down in the history of world warfare as one of the campaigns that were accomplished under the most difficult conditions and with the least loss. In this study, Yavuz Sultan Selim's campaign on Egypt, Merc-i Dabik, Han-Yunus and Ridaniye Wars, the effects of victories on military historiography and the effects of applied strategies on victory will be examined in the relevant context. Keywords: Egypt, Management and Organization, Military History, Campaign, Army.
