Abstract (EN)

This thesis was carried out to determine the effects of Pediococcus acidilactici (PA) inoculation on silage obtained from fodder pea, barley and their mixtures on silage fermentation, aerobic stability and microorganism growth. Existing silage materials are siloed in mixed or plain form. Research groups were formed as feed pea control (YB), barley control (A) feed pea + barley control (YBA), feed pea + PA (YBLAB), barley + PA (ALAB), feed pea + barley + PA (YBALAB). Pediococcus acidilactici lactic acid bacteria were added to the silages at a rate of 1x109 cfu/g. The research groups were formed with a total of 30 silages, 6 groups, 5 replications. The prepared silages were stored in a laboratory environment at 23 ± 2 ºC for 90 days. Chemical, physical and microbiological analyzes were applied to the silages opened at the end of the ensiling period. The silages, whose opening processes were completed, were subjected to a 5-day aerobic stability test. According to the findings obtained at the end of the research, it was determined that the use of PA in fodder pea and barley silages relatively inhibited the growth of undesirable microorganisms and was effective in reducing the pH1 and pH2 levels compared to the control groups. It is possible to say that it improves silage quality in general.
