Abstract (EN)

In this study, in-situ Pt nanoparticles have been synthesized as an active catalyst for the dehydrogenation of dimethylamine-borane (DMAB). Activated carbon material has been used as a catalyst support material to increase the active surface area of the metal nanoparticles. Moreover, both reduction of Pt and dehydrogenation reaction were occured by the addition of DMAB. The prepared catalyst was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It can be easily seen the relatively uniform distribution of the nanoparticles in the range of 3-4 nm. Besides, the TOF value for DMAB dehydrogenation reaction was found to be 21.50 h-1 in the presence of Pt nanoparticles (Pt NP). The effect of Pt nanoparticles was also examined at different temperatures for the dehydrogenation of DMAB and the activation energy (Ea = 48,36 kJ mol-1), activation enthalpy (ΔH# = 45, 82 kJ mol-1), and entropy of activation (ΔS≠= -112, 99 J mol-1 K-1) have been calculated for DMAB reaction. After four subsequent reaction and recovery cycles, Pt NP retained ≥80% of their activity towards the complete dehydrogenation of DMAB. In addition, the catalytic performances of Pt nanoparticles in terms of activity, isolability and reusability were also examined for the dehydrogenation of DMAB.
