Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted based on the administrative borders of Yenişehir District of Bursa province. The main purpose of choosing Yenişehir as the study area is its proximity to Bursa and its significant economic value. Yenişehir basin is located on the North Anatolian Fault due to its location. Therefore, earthquakes that occurred in the region in historical periods have affected the study area and will continue to be affected in the future. In addition, recent studies conducted on this basin reveal that a previously undetected fault called Kayapa Fault, which is 95 kilometers long, also poses a significant risk for Yenişehir. This study has examined the possible effects of an earthquake in detail on the basis of the neighborhoods that make up the district. Natural disasters that may pose a risk in Yenişehir Basin can be listed as earthquake, flood, landslide, storm, drought and forest fire. However, since it has the highest risk potential among these disasters, earthquake risk was primarily examined in this study. In this context, ground surveys conducted in the basin were examined in detail; A comprehensive earthquake risk analysis was carried out by evaluating both the data obtained from field studies and previous research in the region. The Yenişehir Basin is a pull-apart type basin developed on the southernmost branch of the North Anatolian Faultline. When the geological features of the basin are examined, it is remarkable that Neogene formations dominate in the north and south, Paleozoic units dominate in the west, and Quaternary-aged alluviums dominate in the basin floor. With this study, the areas that pose a risk during an earthquake in the Yenişehir district, which is largely established on loose alluvial deposits, were determined and the precautions to be taken in these areas were discussed.
