Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this study, which is presented as a master thesis, is to improve the existing glaze used in floor tile production and to improve acid resistance in the "Bilecik Tile Production Facility" operating within Bien Seramik A.Ş. In this study, when the types of glaze used in the production line are examined, it is determined that "matte glaze" is the most widely used glaze in Bien Ceramic Floor Tile facility. Firstly, floor tile glaze recipes used were examined and new glaze recipes were developed based on these recipes. Then, new glazes obtained by using new recipes developed with different minerals and chemicals have been milled and liquidated in jet mills. To improve acid resistance, the samples were treated with acid (3% HCl) for 3 days. In addition, the acid test (for 3 days) was performed on floor tiles obtained using standard glazes. In our studies, the effect of new chemical compositions on glaze composition and acid resistance were investigated. As a result of the analyzes and observations, samples showing the best acid resistance were determined and coloring studies were performed on these samples. XRD, FT-IR and SEM characterization methods were used to determine the physical and chemical properties of colorless/colored floor tiles obtained from standard and developed glazes. The comparison of the standard glazes developed by Bien and the glazes developed by examining the results of physical and chemical characterization methods. According to the results obtained, it is observed that the glazes used in the floor tiles (new glazes obtained with the developed recipes) have improved resistance to acid degradation.
