Abstract (EN)

In Turkey, local TV series have an irreplaceable place in the evenings in society and they are presented with text contents which convey capitalist-populist order in the last few years. Especially, the characters in the TV series are being stereotyped while presenting to the audience. This situation is often taken in the consideration with a single point of view or perception as if it reflects social reality while representing characters via embroidered texts and consumed by the audience at certain times. It is known that political economy and socio-cultural factors in society are reflected to screen via local TV series and ensures its sustainability by this way and keeping dominant ideology alive. In this framework, local TV series reproduce dominant ideology by keeping it alive via their own methods which are particular genres. Mutually interacted TV series are fed by the culture in their society and brings representation by creating and reflecting different cultures' "other", and speak to the society by affecting the culture once more. This is accelarated especially by today's TV series which provide more function. Society tries to legitimize itself by identification with one of the characters which are created by discrimination of fictional-subjective while trying to interpret the visual codes and text contents presented in TV series and pasifized under dominant identities of "other". While doing this, factors of humor or comedy instead of violence or hate are benefited and presented in a particular mise an scene and it is emphasized in the study importantly. Within this context, this study deals with the representaion analysis according to social identities of the characters of "Yalan Dünya" TV series which contain different cultures. In this purpose, the series are analyzed with semiological method in a holistic framework of visual-audial and text contents of the identities created. At the end of the study, when oppositional reading was done, it is confirmed that the series which are built on myths has some features which are repetitive and supportive to ideological reproduction while using cultural values in connotation as a factor of humor.
