The impact of board characteristics on the bank risk taking

In the study, the properties of the managing board on disposition of taking chance of banks have been analyzed. Between the years 2005 and 2016, a Panel Data Analysis was applied using data whose stock certificates were processing in stock market in banking index of Istanbul and belonging to 12 banks. The dependent variable as the scale of disposition of taking chance in the study is Z Scor data that has been calculated with return on asset ratio. Independent variable consists of variables of experience that is one of the properties of the managing board, duality, gender, independence, education level, total number of members, and variables of age. In current literature, studies have especially been applied on the effect of enterprise performance of the managing board and the studies of properties of managing board that have been applied on disposition of taking chance of enterprises have been with truck jobbers. According to the results, the effect of managing board on disposition of taking chance has a negative and meaningless effect in respect of the variables of independence and age. It has a positive but meaningless effect in respect to the variables of education level, experience, gender, and total number of members. The variable of duality has a negative effect on disposition of taking chance of the managing board and is statistically meaningful. The variable of experience has a positive effect on disposition of taking chance and is statistically meaningful. In the final analysis, it has been reached the end of that the variables of dualityaffect the disposition of taking chance of the managing board.
