Abstract (EN)
Zakāt is a comprehensive financial worship in Islamic law with various sub-headings. This study examines how zakāt can be applied in cases of indebtedness, both in terms of the obligation to pay zakāt and in terms of the places where zakāt can be paid. Indebtedness refers to the inability of individuals or institutions to fulfil their financial obligations. This study firstly, it focuses on the criteria that should be taken into consideration when determining the places and persons to whom zakāt is to be given in Islāmic law. In addition, how indebtedness affects the obligation of zakāt and the conditions and limits under which debtors can receive zakāt are analysed. The aim of this study is to explain the effect of indebtedness on zakāt according to Islamic law by considering indebtedness in terms of places where zakāt is To explain the effect of indebtedness on zakāt according to Islamic law. In conclusion, according to majority of the jurists, indebtedness affects the zakāt obligation under certain conditions. Likewise, debtors are subject to zakāt under certain conditions in terms of the places where zakāt is spent.
