Investigation of using possibilities of olive oil waste water (mills) as fertilizer in maize (Zea mays L.) growing

Abstract (EN)

In this study the impacts of various olive oil waste water (0, 5, 15, 20, 25, 30 g/kg) and calcium (0, 2.5 % and 5.0%) doses on the soil fertility and the development of corn were evaluated. The research was carried out as a pot experiment in the 250 m2 plastic greenhouse of ADU Faculty Agriculture and took two years to complete. In the study, the pot experiment included 7 wastewater doses including the control, 3 CaCO3 applications and 3 repetitions in random plot experimental design. The pioneer 31G98 type of maize was chosen as a plant produced in the region. In this process, the morphological features of the plant (germination, plant size, diameter, number of yellow leaves, number of dry leaves, number of leaves, phenol, chlorophyll, color reading) were observed. Physical (PH, EC, organic matter, dry matter) and chemical (N, P, K, Ca, Na, Mg, B, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu) analyses were carried out on the samples of leaves and soil taken after the experiments. In the study statistically significant relationships were obtained in terms of the doses of olive oil waste water, lime, and waste water+lime in the evaluation of the results of soil and plant analyses. It has been observed that waste water doses increased the levels of P, K, and Na ingredients in the soil compared to controls. Similar situation was observed in terms of Fe, Mn, and B levels were found statistically significant and increased together with the increasing waste water doses. The waste water doses had a negative and significant effect on the germination, number of leaves, diameter, and number of yellow leaves features of the plant.(after the treatment of 4kg/m2 dose) It was found that increasing lime treatments the pH level of the soil increased but P, Mg, and Na levels decreased. Waste water treatments increased the B level with the doses. It also increased the N, Ca, Mg, and Zn levels but decreased Mn and Cu levels. After the treatment of waste water lime doses, the total salt %, and organic material % of the soils increased. The impact of both waste water and lime treatment on Ca and Cu levels were obtained at 15-20 g/kg dose, and 2.5 % lime dose. In terms of plant nutrients ingredients, increasing waste water doses increased the K level at 2.5 % lime dose, its highest level was observed at 5.0 %, 20 g/kg doses.
