Among these prominent figures is Imam Abu Ishaq Al-Marwazi, may Allah have mercy on him (d. 340 AH), who was the leading scholar of the majority of Shafi'i jurists and held a distinguished position among them. His contributions and efforts became widely recognized, as he authored numerous beneficial works on both practical jurisprudence and fundamental principles, which have since served as reference materials and sources from which scholars draw. The researcher compiled the legal opinions of Imam Al-Marwazi from the Chapter of Killing, the Chapter of Hunting, the Chapter of Sacrifices, and the Chapter of Foods, sourced from the comprehensive work "Al-Hawi Al-Kabir" by Imam Al-Mawardi, may Allah have mercy on him (d. 450 AH). The study commenced with an introduction to the personalities of both imams, Al-Mawardi and Al-Marwazi, along with an examination of their respective environments and scholarly standings. Subsequently, the research further delved into a detailed biography of Imam Al-Marwazi, emphasizing his status as the preeminent scholar of the Shafi'i school during his era. The researcher presents the legal opinions of Imam Al-Marwazi within the scope of the study, first by framing the issue in an appropriate manner. He then discusses the opinion of Imam Al-Marwazi, followed by the views of the scholars mentioned by Al-Marwazi in his book, which reflects the Shafi'i tradition. These scholars belong to the Shafi'i school of thought, though others may also be included. The researcher concludes by presenting his own conclusions, with one of the most significant being that Imam Al-Marwazi is a disciplined jurisprudential scholar whose knowledge should be valued. Furthermore, the research asserts that his opinions were not driven by personal bias or blind imitation of predecessors, but rather by independent reasoning and deep reflection, which sometimes led him to differ from earlier scholars of the school, and at other times, to agree with them
