Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of 1,4-Dioxane (C4H8O2) on some biochemical parameters in albino mice were investigated. Green tea was selected as a protective agent against the toxic effects of 1,4-Dioxane and applied to all treatment groups in two dosage. In this scope 6 treatment groups with 6 albino mice (Mus musculus, 12?14 week, 25?30 g ) per group were created. In experimental period (10 week), group I treated with tap water, group II treated with 50mg/kg.bw green tea and tap water, group III treated with 100mg/kg.bw green tea and tap water, group IV treated with 720mg/kg.bw 1,4- Dioxane, group V treated with 50mg/kg.bw green tea+ 720mg/kg.bw 1,4-Dioxane and tap water, group VI treated with 100mg/kg.bw green tea+ 720mg/kg.bw 1,4-Dioxane and tap water. At the end of the experiment, blood samples ere collected and then the serum samples were obtained. ALT, AST, GGT, total protein, albumin and creatinin parameters were investigated in serum samples. And also liver tissues were isolated and MDA, GSH analysis were performed.As aresult of study, important alterations were observed in ALT, AST and GGT levels of 1,4-Dioxane treated group. This alterations can be explained by the potential toxic effects of 1,4-Dioxane on cells. Similiarly, an increase was observed in MDA and bilirubin levels of 1,4-Dioxane treated group and a decrease was observed in GSH, albumin and total protein levels compared to control. We found MDA and bilirubin levels of 1,4-Dioxane + green tea treated groups were significantly lower then in IV. group subjects and GSH and albumin levels were higher. The protective effects of green tea against toxic agents were supported from this results.
