Prevention of secondary infertility in women in 18-49 years and affecting factors

In this study, it was aimed to determine the secondary infertility risk factors in women aged 18-49 years. The study has a case and control type design. The control group of the study consisted of 162 women who applied to the Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic of a training and research hospital, met the inclusion criteria, and had not received infertility diagnosis and treatment before, and the case group consisted of 418 women who were diagnosed with secondary infertility and met the inclusion criteria.The data of the study were collected using the Infertility Risk Factor Review Form created by the researcher. Descriptive statistics and multiple logistic regression analysis were used in the analysis of the data. The prevalence of secondary infertility among the women participating in the study was 72.1%. It was determined that 75.8% of the secondary infertile women were diagnosed with female origin, and 12.9% with both female and male origin secondary infertility. Of the secondary infertile women, 76.3% were younger than 35 years old, 57.4% had menarche at 13 years of age and over, 79.9% had their first marriage at the age of 19 and over, 61.7% were primigravida, 36.1% were nulliparous, 58% .4% have a history of gynecological disease, 19.6% have PCOS, 3.1% have hirsutism, 25.4% have dysmenorrhea, 31.1% are high school graduates and 73.4% live in the city center. According to the results of the multiple logistic regression analysis, it was determined that living in the district, age of spouse, duration of marriage, number of marriages, age at first marriage, age at menarche, number of pregnancies, increased number of children and experiencing dysmenorrhea increased the risk of being secondary infertile (p<0.05).
