Evaluation and transcription of Vidin sharia registry no. 18 (H.1153/ g. 1740-1741)

In this study, the transcription an devaluation of Vidin Court Record Numbered 18 was made. The aim of the study is to contribute to the Ottoman History and the sharia records of Vidin, especially the history of Vidin, in the 18th century. Another goal of the study can be listed as obtaining and analyzing detailed information about the social, military, political, economic and cultural aspects of Vidin according to the sharia records covering the period between H. 1153 / M. 1740-1741. The kadi register that we have transcribed and evaluated is a notebook recorded in M. 1740 1741. Since the year in which the book was recorded was the year immediately following the end of the Russian – Austrian wars of 1735-1739, records were also found among the records for urban planning Works such as renovations that had to be done in a city that had just emerged from a war. This thesis titled "Evaluation and Transcription of Vidin Court Record Numbered 18 H. 1153 / M. 1740-1741" consists of an introduction and two main parts. In the introduction part of the thesis, the religious and customary law structure of the Ottoman Empire, the historical process of Vidin and the Vidin Castle, and finally the personality of the Sultan of the period, Mahmud I, and the events that tookplace during his reign were examined. The second part includes information about the physical characteristics of the Vidin Court Record Numbered 18, the cases included in the book and their contents, the administrative units and settlements mentioned, and the persons mentioned in the book and their duties. The last part of the thesis consists of appendices. This section includes a transcription of the Vidin Court Record No. 18, a few examples from the records, and photographs and maps related to Vidin.
