Abstract (EN)
The most important source, reflecting the Ottoman law, is the records known by the names of the sharia court records, kadı records or court registries. These books, owing to the records they contain are among the most important sources in terms of showing how the Ottoman government and nation system was operating. Also these sources are among the most important ones, displaying the social and economic structure of the Ottoman provincial settlements. The records in the 1899 numbered Sharia court, which are the subject of our work, consist almost entirely of the records of 1733-1737, about supplies and subsidies from Trabzon, sent to the Ottoman army waging a war with Iran on the eastern borders. From these records, it is possible to understand, under which conditions the supply and subsidy of the Ottoman army took place. The records in this book give us information on many topics such as military and food supply, troop routes, road repairs, financing of the war, supplies and ammunition types. The years of 1723-1746 were a period in which the Ottoman-Iranian wars continued unabated. That is why, the complete supply of soldiers, supplies and ammunition to the front was vital for the course of the war. To do this, some very experienced bureaucrats were taken into service to deliver the army's supplies and subsistence in time and in full to the required places. These officers were responsible for many things, such as how much cereal will be bought, in which stores they will be kept, what amount will be loaded on whose ship and providing the means of transport. The empire spared no expense in the supply and subsistence of the army that was fighting on the front. This work was originally based on two goals: The first of these is to emphasize the organizational experience of the Ottoman state system, the perfection of the supply and subsistence of the army, and the second is to show the support of Trabzon, an Ottoman provincial settlement for the Ottoman-Iranian wars, in terms of supply and subsistence.
