The literary environment in Kahramanmaraş between 1950 and 1960: The case of Hamle Magazine

Hamle, is a periodical, which had the property of being the media organ of Maraş High School and was published as 22 issues in total between 1952-1958. Published as "newspaper" in its first issue, released on November 15, 1952 and the following five issues, Hamle continued to be released as "journal" with its seventh issue, published on January 15, 1954. Although it was a local media organ belonging to Maraş High School, it made itself heard in Ankara and Istanbul. Hamle, bears the signature of many men of letters, known for their successes in today's Turkish literature including Sezai Karakoç, Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu, Samim Kocagöz, Yaşar Nabi Nayır, Salâh Birsel, Nuri Pakdil, Alâeddin Özdenören, Rasim Özdenören, Cahit Zarifoğlu, Erdem Bayazıt.There are many literary genres, such as poems, narratives, letters, essays, interviews, critiques, travel writing, memoirs and diaries, on the pages of Hamle. Hamle, not only plays a significant role in the training of new writers and poets but contributes a lot to the literary life in Maraş and its vicinity. The main objective of the thesis is to study Hamle in a literary and cultural sense and also reveal its significance in local media of Maraş and in Turkish literature.
