Abstract (EN)
In this study, from 1960 to the present day, themes and figurative approaches in Turkish Painting were examined through artworks and artists. In this review based on the historical process, firstly the concepts "subject" and "figure" were examined. Later the prominent subjects and figures in Turkish Painting were mentioned. After that, by evaluated of selection of thema and fugure use in this period. By grouping movements started in the process up to 1960 and the effects of World War II. The process after 1960 can be described as the period in which the Turkish society has been in the most intense period of establishing a new cultural identity. In this period, intellectual, artistic, social and political events appeared to carry the Turkish Painting a new roundabout by subject and figure selection. Our artists who could not be reckless to living developments, involved in searching for different subjects, and produced artifacts in the currents like socialism, realism, surrealism and expressionism. Again, in the post-1980 period, cultural, the social and political developments in the societyinfluenced the direction of art and directed the artists to different subjects and figures. From the past to the present, the area on most questioned and considered by art historians, art critics, philosophers and artists has been consideration of subject and figure selection in theoretical framework. Finally, from the information obtained from the research, through the contribution of social realist artists to the Turkish Painting, was made an assessment of Neşet GÜNAL's life, understanding of art and Works, and the scope of research has been exemplified and developed.
