The concept of democracy in the election declarations of AP and CHP in 1973 elections

In Turkish democracy, after the government of Süleyman Demirel, who was forced to resign by the March 12, 171 Memorandum, a government of technocrats was formed and thes governments led the country until the 1973 elections. In this study, the change that Turkish democrasy has undergone is analyzed with a qualitative evaluation together with the historical process. After the 1971 military memorandum, elections were held on October 14, 1973. In the process leading up to the general elections, the concept of democracy was analyzed in the election manifestos of AP and CHP. The consept of democracy that the two parties addressed in their election manifestos also shoed their perspectives on democracy and was the subject of this study. This study aims to explain the attitude of the two parties toward the concept of democracy after the military memorandum by considering the concepts of right, freedoms, constituon, social, social peace and order, sucurity of life and property, and national will.
