The impact of the economic crisis afer 1990 on Turkish banking sector

The economic crises include political, social, sociological and psychological impacts as well as economic. In order to understand the mistakes in the ongoing economic system and to recognize the role of the economy in social life, and to see how wrong economic choices are made, economic crises offer important findings to people. There is a need for an analysis of the economic crises in order to understand all these effects and make more accurate economic choices. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of the economic crises in Turkey after 1990 on the banking sector and to determine the effects of the measures taken after the crises. In this thesis, secondary data and literature review will be used to serve the purpose of the research. The financial problems that emerged after the 1994, 2000, 2001 and 2008 Crises brought the question of how secure the banking sector, which is the driving force of the economy, led to questioning the system we live in Especially in the 1980s, the economic liberalization policy and the economic liberalization have been seen to increase in the 1990s. Not being able to use the right resources, the public invited the crisis to the banks, which were the locomotive of the economy. The fact that the reform measures taken did not go beyond producing temporary solutions revealed the requirements of the new reform packages. In order to provide financing to the real sector, banks with domestic capital acting with national consciousness should not emerge.
