Synthesis and characterization of some transition metal complexes of 2-thiophenecarboxylic acid

Abstract (EN)

In this work, thiophene-2-carboxylic acid (HTCA) complexes were synthesized by Nickel(II), Copper(II), Cobalt(II) and Manganase(II) containing imidazole (imd), 2-methyl imidazole, 2-isopropyl imidazole and n-methyl imidazole, respectively. The handled complex compounds were characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction method. In the complexes, the thiophene-2-carboxylic acid acted as monoanionic monodentate manner and bonded to the metals via its carboxylate oxygen. The imidazole and its derivatives bonded to the metals via its nitrogen atoms. The geometry around the metal centers were found as octahedral [MO4N2] type for Nickel and Manganase, found as square-planar [CuO2N2] type for copper complex and tetrahedral [CoO2N2] type for cobalt complexes.
