The evaluation of postgraduate theses in the field of social studies education between the years of 2011-2020

The aim of the research is to evaluate master's and doctoral theses made in the field of social studies education between the years of 2011-2020. In the study, theses prepared in the field of social studies education were analyzed in terms of year, university, research topic, sample, data collection technique and tool, data analysis technique and keywords. Within the research subject, the database of YÖK national thesis center was scanned with the keywords "social studies education"and"social studies teaching". The descriptive study method was used in the research, and the sample of the study consists of the theses written in the field of social studies education between the years of 2011-2020. The theses reached by the scanning method were limited to 2011-2020 years, and a total of 68 theses, 62 of which were master's theses and 6 of which were doctoral theses, were reached in the study. The theses, which were determined by the purposive sampling method, were analyzed according to the study criteria specified above and descriptive statistics of them were found out. The obtained data were interpreted according to the determined criteria and the numerical values were interpreted by converting to tables and graphics. With this research, it has been concluded that studies in the field of social studies education have increased in recent years, academicians are much preferred as samples, the subjects are within a general framework, and more qualitative studies are done as a method.
