2019 (Secondary school) Turkish lesson teaching program evaluation according to teacher's opinions

The aim of this study is to determine the opinions of Turkish teachers about the general objectives, special objectives, achievements, learning areas, grammar area, themes, text types, values, competencies, measurement and evaluation in the 2019 (Middle School) Turkish Language Curriculum. The study was organized in accordance with the quantitative research method and the data were collected by questionnaire technique. In order to evaluate the program, a 5-point Likert-type questionnaire with 20 questions was prepared by the researcher, paying attention to the topics covered in the program. The prepared questionnaire was sent online to 750 Turkish teachers working in public schools (middle) selected randomly from the provinces of Istanbul, Ankara, Denizli, Antalya, Trabzon, Agri and Gaziantep. The answers given by the participants were also recorded electronically in the same way. In the analysis of the data, the answers were determined as percentage and number of people. As a result of the study, most of the Turkish teachers who participated in there search included in the 2019 (Middle School) Turkish Lesson Curriculum; They expressed positive opinions on general purposes, special goals, acquisitions, learning areas, grammar, themes, text types, values, competencies, measurement and evaluation. The participants expressed their opinion that the activities in the text books should be compatible with the achievements of the program. While the content and number of the achievements related to the four basic skill are as in the 2019 (Secondary School) Turkish Language Curriculum are considered sufficient, there are also participants who are undecided about whether the acquisitions in the areas of listening/watching, speaking and writing are sufficient in terms of content and number.
