Abstract (EN)
The sharia register ledgers are valuable sources depicting economic, social and geographical circumstances of the time period which they are kept for, during Ottoman Era. They are major sources shedding light on history, economic history and legal history of the city in particular. In this paper entitled "Transcription and Evaluation of the Register No 22 (H.1327-1328, M. 1909-1910) of Kırşehir Sharia Court", firstly the information has been given about place and status of Kırşehir (province) in terms of historical context. After also citing the studies involving Sharia Courts and Sharia Registers, the register ledger has been transcribed into Latin alphabet and summaries of existing court rulings have been added. During its transcription, the author of the present paper has noticed the diversity of the court cases brought before courts, determining that the register ledger contains not only legal guardian assignment, divorce-alimony, inheritance and debt-receivable law suits but also those court cases involving murder, assault and battery, wounding and fornication-adultery. In addition to such entries involving these court cases, there are also proclamations about commencement of Ramadan Month and Ramadan Festival.
