The effect of the scenorio based learning method on students achievement in 3rd grade social studi̇es course

The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of the scenario-based learning method on academic achievement in "healthy life" unit of social studies course in 3rd grade primary school students. In this research,pre-test post-test experimental research method with experimental control group was used as one of the quantitative research method. Participants of the study comprised 84 of 3rd grade students at Ağrı Küpkıran Primary School. The experimental group consists of 43 students and the control group consists of 44 students. In order to determine the equivalence of experimental and control groups in terms of academic achievement levels, pretest was applied to the groups and the groups were determined to be homogeneous. In the experimental group, the lessons were taught with scenario-based learning approach unlike the control group. As a data collection tool,the achievement test which was developed by the researcher and whose alpha reliability coefficient was determined as 0.83. The difference between the final test scores of success has been in favour of the experiment group. As a result of the study ,it can be said that there is a significant difference between the results of the experimental group and the effects of the scenario based learning approach on the academic achievement of the students when compared to the control group Keywords: Scenario-based learning, Social studies
