Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT REMOVAL OF THE 5-FLUOROURACIL COMPAUND BY ADVANCED OXIDATION TECHNIQUES In this study, 5-Fluorouracil matter has been investigated to remove with electro Fenton (EF) process and subcritical water oxidation. By intervening in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) synthesis, 5-Fluorouracil prevents the formation of ribonucleic acid (RNA). In 5-Fluorouracil electro Fenton (EF) method, which is used especially for treatment of breast and colon cancer, different anodic materials were used in different currents to determine the conditions giving maximum elimination. Also, electro Fenton process (EF) has been studied comparatively. As a result of the work done, in the electro fenton process is decided; the optimum removel is achieved at %98,3 ratio and the most efficient conditions also are 120 miliamperes current intensity in 12 minutes with DSA (Dimensional Stable Anode) anode material. In the subcritical water oxidation process, optimum conditions for the oxidation of 5-Fluorouracil is determined as 200 °C temperatures, 90 minutes experiment period and oxidation yield has been reliazed %60,2 ratio. In the last process, wet hydrogen peroxide oxidation, optimum conditions for oxidation of 5-Fluorouracil similar to subcritical water oxidation is determined as 200 °C temperatures, 90 minutes and oxidation yield is observed %94,36 ratio. The comparison of these three different processes result in the optimum conditions; it is decided that the most efficent process is the electro fenton process.
